Today we are excited to feature Liberty University athlete Luke Anderson in our Student-Athlete Spotlight. Luke is a hurdler on the Track and Field Team and is the program's representative on the Liberty University Student Athlete Advisory Council. He is a Junior and studies Mechanical Engineering. We are so proud of Luke's commitment to our literacy outreach!
Lauren Amy is our 2nd & 7 program contact at Liberty University and shares, Luke has been instrumental to our “Learn Like Liberty” program utilizing the resources that 2nd & 7 have provided. Throughout the Fall 2022 semester, we read to the 2nd and 3rd grade classes at R.S. Payne Elementary School several times. When Luke walked into their classroom, their faces would light up and he brought them so much happiness. Luke was also willing to stay after our allotted reading time to accompany the students to recess". Luke enjoys many aspects of our program and shares, “I have really enjoyed 2nd and 7 because of the direct impact I am able to make on these kids. It takes it a step further from doing food drives or fundraisers and allows us to put a smile on the face of all these kids. I love being able to use my athletic ability to make an impact on others".
Our Liberty University 2nd & 7 program has had a tremendous impact with the students at RS Payne Elementary in Lynchburg, VA. The success of this program is a result of amazing athlete volunteers, like Luke, who are committed to being positive role models for young readers. We are so grateful to have Luke Anderson in our 2nd & 7 huddle!
